CSM Manuel Cruz is a native of Bronx, NY. He enlisted into the Army in August 1996 and attended Basic Combat Training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri followed by Advanced Individual Training at Fort Sam Houston, Texas where he was awarded the MOS 91B (Combat Medic). In 2000, he attended reclassification training at Fort Sam Houston, Texas where he was awarded the MOS 91K (Medical Laboratory Specialist).

CSM Cruz’s assignments include 2/72 Armor Battalion, Camp Casey, Korea; 1st Squadron, 1st Calvary Regiment, Budingen Germany; Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Washington, D.C.; Heidelberg MEDDAC, Heidelberg, Germany; 16th Medical Logistics Battalion, Camp Carroll, Korea; Dwight D. Eisenhower Army Medical Center, Fort Gordon, Georgia; Brooke Army Medical Center, Fort Sam Houston, Texas; Joint Base San Antonio (JBSA) Physical Evaluation Board, JBSA, Texas; Womack Army Medical Center, Fort Bragg, North Carolina; Directorate of Training and Academic Affairs, Medical Center of Excellence (MEDCoE), Fort Sam Houston, Texas; NCO Professional Development Directorate, NCO Leadership Center of Excellence (NCOLCoE), Fort Bliss, Texas.

CSM Cruz has served in various leadership positions to include Medical Laboratory NCO, Cytology NCOIC, Anatomic Pathology NCOIC, Department of Pathology NCOIC, RHC-A Senior Enlisted Laboratory Consultant, Chief, Enlisted Subject Matter Expert (ESME) Department, MEDCoE and Assistant Chief, Commandant’s Initiatives Group, NCOLCoE. He has deployed to Bosnia in support of Operation Joint Guard.

His military and civilian education includes all levels of the Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development System, SHARP Course, and AMEDD ESME Course. He is a graduate of Class 70 of the U.S. Army Sergeants Major Academy. He holds a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Cytotechnology from George Washington University and a Master’s in Business Administration in Healthcare Management and Human Resource Management from American Intercontinental University.

Awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (7th award), the Army Commendation Medal (3rd award), the Army Achievement Medal (6th award), and various other awards and ribbons for service and dedication to the Army. He is a proud member of the Order of Military Medical Merit.

CSM Cruz is married to 2LT Francesca Cruz, an active duty Army nurse currently serving at Tripler Army Medical Center, and they have three fur babies (cats) Faith, Buddy, and Coco.
