Mammography

Please arrive 15 minutes early to complete your paperwork.

An adequate mammogram study requires optimal compression of your breasts. The study should be scheduled during the time of the month that your breasts are the least tender. If you think that the scheduled appointment falls during the time that your breasts will be most tender, please reschedule your appointment. If you have to cancel or reschedule your appointment for any other reason, please call the mammography clinic at the number listed above and leave a message on the voice mail if we are unable to answer your call at that time.

If you have breast implants, you must first inform the appointment clerk at the time of scheduling. This study requires longer appointment time.

Please shower before your appointment, but do not apply deodorant, powder or lotion under your arms or in your chest area and wear a two-piece outfit.

If you had a mammogram at another hospital or clinic, either military or civilian, please inform the mammogram appointment clerk so that a release form can be signed by you and the films can be sent for from the previous facility. If you live near the facility, please make every effort to obtain these films and bring them to your appointment. This will enable us to complete the report for your healthcare provider without any delay.

Please DO NOT call this department for your results. The results of your mammogram will be available to your healthcare provider in this hospital via the computer system within four working days. For an outside provider, the results will be faxed or mailed within ten working days. You will receive a letter with the results of the mammogram by mail within thirty days. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the mammography clinic or your healthcare provider who ordered the mammogram.
